Malta Star: [WATCH] Chris Said confirms GonziPN homophobic policy
Friday, 31 Aug 2012, 06:44

Labour Party leader Dr Joseph Muscat reprimanded Minister of Justice and Family Chris Said yesterday's decleration, that gay couples are not recognised as a family unit, and said that such statements confirm GonziPN government's institutionalised homophobia.

Slamming the statement as 'unacceptable', Dr Muscat said that if Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi agrees with Minister Said, it confirms that GonziPN is homophobic. However if he does not adher to Said's views, then he should criticise him.

Dr Muscat emphasized that the Labour Party believes that a family unit is made up of a couple irrespective of gender and sexual orientation.

The Labour leader recalled how GonziPN homophobia manifested itself during the discussion on the Bill regarding rented housing. While the Opposition proposed that protection should be extended to same-sex couples, the government had objected that same-sex couples benefit from the same protection as straight couples.

Listen to Dr Muscat's comments:

Will this mean that same sex ...
Uuuuu, stenna naqqa Guz. Dalwaqt ...
