MGRM: Protest Against Harmful Gay Conversion Attempts and Fairytale Beliefs

Malta Gay Rights Movement

Wednesday 18th May at 18:30 - Outside "Sapphire Suite", Rivers of Love Fellowship, Mdina Road, Zebbug

A few days ago a Maltese evangelical pastor claimed he was 'helping' gay people convert away from homosexuality while finding their true meaning by following religious teachings.

The Malta Gay Rights Movement finds that efforts aimed towards changing a person's sexual preferences are not only useless but also very harmful to the involved people's self-worth in that they are made to believe that there is something wrong with who they are.

There is absoltely nothing wrong with being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and absoltely nothing that needs to be changed or improved. Such fairytale beliefs are making many people's lives miserable, and MGRM believes it needs to make its voice heard in this respect.

The protest is being organised to send a message to LGBT people and their families that sexual orientation is something to be celebrated, not repressed.

People attending the peaceful protest are encouraged to bring rainbow flags, banners, placards, and most importantly, their friends and supporters.
