We Are Family @ Parliament

18.10.2012 by Dr Ing. Patrick Attard

Date: Monday 22nd October 2012
Time: 19:30 - 21:30
Location: St. George's Square Valletta, in front of Parliament

This is NOT a protest.

This is a truly historic moment. It is the first time that the dignity of our relationships is being discussed in Parliament. Our relationships can be as respectful and dignifying as heterosexual ones.

We should go in front of Parliament dressed ELEGANTLY in order to show respect to the Highest Institution of OUR country and to demonstrate that we are respectable people too.

There are more than 15,000 Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender voters but if we don't stand UP for our rights, we shouldn't expect others to do so for us.

Please invite your brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents to come and support YOU. Bring along your friends and those who understand the importance of having a just law.

You must understand that this is not a standard gay pride and if a handful of people appear we won't be taken seriously and it is more difficult for movements or activists to explain the urgency of our demands and to gain support in the upcoming Bill and the looming election.

Maybe not all gay persons are in a relationship, but by having our relationships recognised by Law, we will slowly start eradicating all the homophobia and discrimination which occurs (albeit mostly invisible) throughout all the sectors of society: schools, colleges, work-force, sports, armed forces...

INDIFFERENCE won't take us anywhere. We have a long journey ahead and we are about to start the engine.

PS: Please bring a pocket radio and tune it to 106.6MHz FM.
PPS: Any obscene comment offending a particular religion or group will be reported and deleted.
PPPS: Respect the Law and Order. Every person is responsible for his/her actions.
