17.7.9 Mill-General Workers' Union (GWU) Media Department

Il-General Workers' Union fl-okkażżjoni tal-Pride March organizzat għal sena oħra konsekuttiva mill-Malta Gay Rigħt Movement nhar is-Sibt 18 ta' Lulju 2009, qegħda tagħti s-sapport sħiħ tagħha lil din il-għaqda u għaqdiet oħra li jaħdmu qatigħ sabiex iħarsu d-drittijiet u l-interessi tal-ħaddiema gay. Il-GWU jirrappurtawlha li bosta huwa l-okkażżjonijiet meta b'modi diretti jew sottili ħaddiema gay ibagħtu minn diskriminazzjoni u inġustizji.

Għaldaqstant, il-GWU tagħti s-sapport sħiħ lil din il-għaqda u anzi tistieden lill-MGRM sabiex fix-xhur u s-snin li ġejjien jaħdmu fil-qrib ħalli jaċċertaw ruħhom li individwi gay ma jkunx diskriminati qabel jintagħżlu għall-impjieġ u li eventwalment ma jsofrux fl-impjieg.

Barra minhekk, il-GWU tagħmel appell lill-minoranzi kollha sabiex jagħmlu kuraġġ u ma jibżgħux isemmgħaw leħinhom. Min-naħa tagħha l-GWU tfakkar li l-bieb tagħha huwa miftuħ għal kull min għandu kawża ġusta.

The General Workers’ Union has confirmed that it will once again support the gay pride march being organised by the Malta Gay Rights Movements on Saturday, saying that they were aware of many cases of discrimination.

The union warned that the discrimation was not always direct and could sometimes be quite subtle.

It appealed to all minorities to take courage and make their voices heard.

“Our door is always open for those who have a just cause,” it said.

The march will be held at City Gate in Valletta at 1000h and in the evening, rounding up a week of events called Diverscity, there will be a concert in the evening at 2030h with The Pink Singers (London) and Zghazagh Haddiema Nsara choirs.
