Times: Vatican stance on homosexuality

I would like to express my outright condemnation of the Vatican's stance with respect to the European Union's resolution at the United Nations calling for a worldwide decriminalisation of homosexuality.

The Vatican's excuse is totally grotesque and probably hides ulterior motives.

This stance brings to mind the Nazi persecutions of the gay community, and is a far cry from the attitude expected from a Church calling itself 'universal'. Homosexuality is still punishable by death in some fundamentalist Islamic countries, and the Vatican is seemingly condoning this abject violation of human rights.

Is this what being Christian is all about? Isn't the Vatican contradicting its stance against the death penalty?
