Malta Star: Italian court decides gay couple can adopt
Tuesday, 15 Jan 2013, 09:56

The Italian Supreme court has confirmed the custody of a child to the mother who lives with another woman. The judges ruled that society should put an end to this prejudice.

The father had requested the Supreme Court to turn down the decision handed down by the Court of Appeal on the grounds of educational unsuitability’. His appeal was turned down by the Supreme Court of Brescia. The court ruled that the decision was based on the fact that there was no scientific data, nor any negative experiences, that prohibited such custody.

The judges also said that it was only mere prejudice that assumed a detrimental development of a child in a family life centred around a homosexual couple.
