MaltaStar: Hats off to David

31 August 2009 13:26

Nationalist MEP David Casa has finally jumped on the bandwagon.

Over the past weeks he’s been criticised, including by myself (check out ‘What’s the matter, David?’ at http://maltastar.com/pages/ms09dart.asp?a=3498) for being the only Maltese European Parliament member who had not endorsed an ILGA-Europe pledge to promote equality and combat discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
I genuinely give him a pat on the back for having finally made the much awaited move by formally taking on this commitment. In so doing he’s made Malta the only EU Member State the MEPs of which have all signed the declaration.
It’s indeed a commendable record for the EU’s smallest country… at least on paper. Let’s now keep an eye on the delivery of our MEPs in Brussels and Strasbourg to discover whether they mean business. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, after all.

  1. Why should he be congratulated for something he should have done in the first place? Rather than a pat on the back, I would slap him and tell him "About time you hypocrite"
