Żminijietna – Voice of the Left, Richard Mifsud
In reaction to the Public Policy Insitute's (TPPI) statement that Malta is not ready for same-sex marriage, Żminijietna - Voice of the Left believes that Maltese people are not inferior to people in other countries which are introducing same-sex marriages.
TPPI is discriminatory when it saying that Malta is not ready for same-sex marriage and that this policy would be one steps too far. It does not make sense to speak of equality in family and social policy while only allowing opposite-sex partners to marry.
Żminijietna joins other leftist, progressive and green forces which call for the introduction of same-sex marriage as a basic right in terms of equality. We applaud the French Government which has joined other governments around the world, also including Left wing Governments in South America, in the introduction of same-sex marriage.
Right-wing conservatives who want to block same-sex marriage should be opposed.
